Battle on the Beach | 36 Hour Challenge Room Reveal

From a battle on an actual battleship, to a surprise new challenge – it was a CRAZY week! It was so much fun getting to visit the USS North Carolina and explore below deck in an intense challenge to win an extra two hours of working time for our 36-hour challenge room! We’re both superrr competitive, so we knew we wouldn’t let ourselves live this one down if we lost this competition. In a super close finish, WE WON the battleship competition and gained an extra two hours of working time!
The two stipulations for our bonus room were: it can’t be a bedroom – and finish it in 36 hours. We thought about what the ultimate beach getaway would need, and we decided a spa room for those rainy days would be perfect! Plus our room was sot tiny, we thought this tranquil space would be the perfect addition to our beach house. We wanted to keep the design on theme with the rest of the house, and use calm, earth and beach tones throughout.
The one big item we knew would be a challenge to find within 36 hours was a sauna that we could not only purchase, but get to the house and get installed before the time ran out. Luckily we found a supplier that only had ONE floor model, but let us purchase it sight unseen. We added a wooden cold plunge to pair with our sauna for the full experience. To keep with our spa theme, we installed a green faux plant wall to grab your eye right when you walk in the room. For decor we built a cedar bench to match the sauna and cold plunge, added a mini-fridge, a space for yoga, floor length mirror and cushy robes. Sam even took photos right outside on our beach and framed them for the walls!
We didn’t take home the win this week, but we think the spa room was a huge win for our house overall! Would you like a private spa in your beach house?
